Peloton -
I just had an MRI after six months of Temodar chemotherapy. My brain tumor
is shrinking! Its a small amount but it reverses the direction it was going
for 12 months in 2002.
More significantly though is the reversal of the "areas of enhancement".
These are spots inside the tumor bulk that were changing into a more
aggressive type of tumor. They have all shrunk in size, and also lightened
in intensity. One of the mid-sized ones has even disappeared completely!
Barb urged me to sign up for the Tour of Hope team, and I downloaded the
application. Even though I am riding 20+ MPH on 20-30 mile rides, I am
probably kidding myself. I will just have to settle for this year doing my
share of pulling for Will, Ray and Brandon (and others) on the Ride for the
Roses. If anybody thinks differently please give me a kick in the pants and
tell me to apply. I am in relatively strong biking, running and swimming
shape considering the poison I have been gulping down. My bloodwork is very
strong.
We haven't made a decision yet but since Temodar is working so well and the
side effects are manageable I may continue on for another 6 months. A
consortium of oncologists around the country is recommending this change of
protocol. I will keep you posted. Obviously I could take a break if Lance
called and desperately wanted me for the Tour of Hope...<grin>
Finally, my website, www.jimsjourney.com, is up and running! It is not
finished, but you can get an idea. Please let me know what you think.
Hopefully I will get in some long rides in over the holiday...Happy riding
everyone!
