Last night was one of those special moments I will always remember. I told the story of my cancer journey as the major presenter at the Minnesota Oncology Foundation Annual Golf Tournament and Benefit. I know that I was less than impressive out on the course during the afternoon, but my speech went very well. There is a copy of my speech under the Writings Section to the left. The Foundation witnessed my patient outreach efforts this winter and asked me to get more involved in advocacy, including this speech.
What I didn't know was that many family members were going to secretly attend the event. The benefit was held across the border in Wisconsin, about 30 miles east of the Twin Cities. Not an easy thing to just drop in for on a Monday night. I came around the corner into the tent and ran right into my sister Nancy! It was such a joy to have them there to thank them in front of that large crowd for their incredible support.
